   When I got these and tried them on, I found I had to put on nylon trouser socks, grab the pull tabs and pull up while forcing my heel into the boots at the same time, to get them on. Once on, they loosened up pretty soon. These are really nice boots and A+ for the distressed light grey color (not green like in the description) which is a nice change. I wear 8.5 and could fit the size 8 perfectly well, as soon as my foot was in them to loosen them up. The shaft height is actually 11.5″ and not 12″. These are very comfortable once they loosen up, with good arch support and foot cushioning. A very good quality, well made boot, with a leather lining, and real leather shaft, and hybrid leather/rubber sole. These seem durable, dependable and reliable, & like they would last. I was not nuts about the boxier square style as well, but the other qualities made up for that. Was hoping they were 12″ tall shaft, as some Roper boots have a 12″ shaft, but only with leather soles. As for why Roper makes 12″ tall shaft boots with leather soles only, and the boots with rubber on the soles are shorter, I have no idea! But hope they will make some like these with a taller shaft (12-13″) and rubber on the soles as well. Otherwise a good quality boot worth the money.

   A handsome boot that is too big for my 8.5/9 narrowish foot. The square toe is quite wide and the boot seems a full size too long. Thanks Zappos for easy returns.
